Blood Orange Honey Cocktail
PUBLISHED ON: 03.03.2024
My friends it is citrus season. We need to embrace all the beautiful citrus available this time of year, and if you can get your hands on a few blood oranges, I have a cocktail for you. A fun, just strong enough patio pounder perfect for a weekend afternoon with family and friends.
Turn up the music, open the windows, shake up this cocktail, and kick back with family and friends.
Blood Orange Honey Cocktail
Serves 1
Ingredients:
2-ounces Gin
1.5 ounces Blood Orange Juice
1/2 ounce Honey Syrup (equal parts honey and water. Heat until honey dissolves into water).
1/2 ounce lemon juice
1 egg white
dash orange bitters
Directions:
Add all ingredients to a shaker WITHOUT ice and shake.
Add ice then shake again and double strain over ice into glass.
Dash bitters then garnish with dried citrus.

When I was in college at a frat party, I once had 15 Alabama Slammers and 5 bourbon and cokes. And then, I had one drink of gin. And I got so sick. I swore off gin then and there, because I didn’t like the way it made me feel.

Joel, you make me smile.

Maybe it was something you ate🤪

Beautiful color and sounds nice. I’ll probably make mine with vodka but my husband would like your version with gin.

Great mix of flavors in this cocktail. Beautiful presentation! 🙂

Beautiful cocktail, we’re in citrus season in Spain too, would love this with some tapas.

I don’t usually go for drinks with bitters, but this looks and sounds wonderful! The blood orange infuses great color and flavor.

Wait, you had me until the ‘egg white’. What’s the purpose of adding an egg white to the cocktail? It looks yummy.

Gives the cocktail froth (smile).

I love a good cocktail and I could make this one at home. I would like to use fresh blood orange juice. Thanks for the recipe,

Great photo! This sounds wonderful. I don’t know who Joel is, but he’s a pretty funny guy. I didn’t drink until my late 20’s. I couldn’t handle drunk people at parties in high school and college. And sick people.

a patio pounder? sounds very risque 🙂 Blood orange season is mid-winter here in australia so we have a few months to go …

One more reason to buy gin. I’ve been threatening to do so for another cocktail. Blood Oranges always make such pretty colored drinks. Thanks for this recipe Velva.

I had a very similar mocktail at my last fancy dinner out….even down to the dried slice on top. It was lovely.

What an amazing (and easy) cocktail recipe! I just saw blood oranges at the store last week, too. And I’m really intrigued by that idea of honey simple syrup rather than traditional simple syrup with granulated sugar. Cool concept!!

Sounds like a lovely drink, Velva. And perhaps I can count it as good for you, too. Hard to think of a more delicious way to get in a bit of Vitamin C…

It is citrus season here, too. And I need to check with my neighbor about her blood orange tree. If not any there, the market has plenty. My cocktail-fiend brother arrives Monday for a week – I think he will love this. I will report back.

This looks so refreshing and the color of this cocktail is amazing, Velva!
